Fetal Life is a pregnancy medical device company, bringing innovative solutions to support prenatal care. We focus on helping pregnant women better manage their health at home through personalized care and advanced technology.
When Fetal Life’s founder, Riya Shah, learned of her mother’s emotional and financial struggles with pregnancy, Riya had a vision. She was determined to help other pregnant women, sparking the “birth” of Fetal Life, LLC. Our team is passionate about serving and saving pregnant women. You can say, Fetal Life is Riya’s baby!
Our devices are affordable, portable, and easy to use. The Fetal Life app has so far helped over 53,000 users and is in process of helping more. The Fetal Life solution is endorsed by the American Pregnancy Association. Our devices are protected by patent. We are in process of filing FDA 510(k) for the contraction monitoring device.

Riya Shah
Riya Shah is the Founder and President of Fetal Life, LLC since October 2017. She has received multiple patents for her pregnancy contraction monitoring and general health device inventions.
Riya has also raised investments, won two NIH grants, and won a KY Innovation grant. She has also led Fetal Life, LLC to be a finalist for the 2020 Johnson & Johnson JLabs Maternal Health QuickFire Challenge, and a finalist and Audience Choice Award winner for the 2020 Parkview Health Healthy Mom and Baby Innovation Competition. Riya has been invited to many events as a guest speaker, including the 2022 HIMSS Healthcare Conference in Orlando and the 2020 USPTO IP Workshop for the Congressional App Challenge.
Riya is a 2019 Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs alumni. In 2014, Riya and her Future Problem Solving team at school placed 8th at the GIPS International Future Problem Solving Conference. Riya is currently a third-year student at Georgia Tech. She is majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Engineering and Business through the Denning T&M program. Riya is also a recipient of the full-ride Stamps President’s Scholarship.

Sundeep Dronawat
Dr. Sundeep “Sunny” Dronawat received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Biochemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology in Karnataka, India. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1996 and his Master of Business Administration from University of Louisville in 2001.
Sunny is CTO of Plutoshift, an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning company based out of Palo Alto, California. Dr. Dronawat was co-founder and managing partner of POS on Cloud which was acquired by Newtek in 2019. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, and Indiana University. Sunny served as VP and CTO of Western Southern Financial group a Fortune 500 company.
Dr. Dronawat serves as the Chairman of The Louisville Water Company and serves on the Board of Jefferson Community and Technical College. Dr. Dronawat was appointed by Governor to the Commission on Small Business Advocacy for the State of Kentucky. Dr. Dronawat is a former board member of Kentucky State Park Foundation, co-founder and board member of Indian Professional Council of Kentucky and is past president of Indian Community of Kentucky. He has served as Chairman of India Community Foundation of Louisville. He is also a Lifetime member of Indian Community Foundation of Louisville, USA. Dr. Dronawat is a Fellow of Financial Services Institute and Life Office Management Institute.
Dr. Dronawat was awarded the MOSIAC outstanding immigrant award by Jewish Community and Family Services in 2008. He was also recognized as a Kentucky Colonel. He was recognized as Alumni Fellow of the year by University of Louisville – Engineering School in 2018.

Dr. Sara Petruska
Dr. Sara Petruska is Fetal Life’s Medical Consultant and helps conduct clinical studies for Fetal Life. She holds a Medical Degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Dr. Petruska is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Petruska is affiliated with the University of Louisville Hospital, where she serves as Medical Director of Labor and Delivery.
Dr. Petruska has been recognized by her peers as a Louisville Top Doc in her field since 2015. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an active member of American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Bob Ford
Bob is a professional with 20+ years of digital experience. He likes to say that he’s been online since online became a thing. He’s co-founded a company with a successful exit, Emazing.com, and has had the chance to lead teams at some of the largest players in the country, Humana and Papa John’s. At Papa John’s Bob led the team that allowed PJ’s to get a huge head start in the online arena, product, marketing, and eCommerce. At Humana, as Head of Mobile, he had the chance to evolve a very traditional industry into the digital world. Bob has had the chance to sit on the client council at Facebook, and the client advisory board of ExactTarget, later acquired by Salesforce. He believes that if that customer experience is at the center of every successful product. He is a team player that believes teams win.

Alan Herron
Alan is a design evangelist, bringing over two decades of design experience from internet startups to Fortune 100 companies such as front-end developer at GE Appliances to Lead Mobile Product Designer for Humana Vitality/Go365. Alan is a recipient of President George Bush’s Presidential Academic Fitness Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence, and achieved his B.S.A Eagle Scout rank with a bronze eagle palm, and achieved Vigil status in the Order of the Arrow.

Jay Lawson
Jay Lawson has over 25 years of experience in a variety of medical device and healthcare segments. He has held various leadership positions, most notably, as division President of Stryker Corporation. Jay specializes in the areas of sales, marketing, product development, channel development, and strategic execution. As an entrepreneur, Jay has served as President/CEO of Doctors Research Group, and cofounded many ventures in the healthcare space including Lawson Group (consulting), SurgiCor (distribution), and HealthCor (IT). With a track record of high achievement, accountability, and innovative implementation, Jay brings a broad knowledge base to Fetal Life. Mr. Lawson is an alumnus of Temple University and Harvard Business School.

Dr. Robert Robbins
Dr. Robert E. Robbins is an investor and Board Member for Fetal Life and is passionate about improving women’s health. He is a retired board-certified surgeon and a successful businessman. He is also the co-founder and chairman of AISA, as well as a venture capitalist and angel investor who has invested in multiple startups, including ZirMed Inc. Dr. Robbins obtained his Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky and his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his residency at the University of Louisville Hospital Group.

Himanshu Shah
Himanshu serves as a Board Member for Fetal Life and is essential in helping the operations of the company run smoothly. He has also served as the Chief Information Officer of Care Innovations, an Intel company, and has led the company’s information technology with product development, integration, mobile development, analytics, quality assurance, support and maintenance, as well as infrastructure and security management. Prior, Himanshu was a technology leader at Humana, managing Pharmacy Technology and clinical applications. He has been instrumental in growing the Humana Pharmacy business to $3.2 billion. Himanshu has been recognized by several organizations for his management skills, team work, and ability to execute and deliver. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology and a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
